We wanted to inform you of progress and answer some of your questions regarding the US Sailing Center. We thank you for your offers to help – much of the work being done has been with heavy equipment rather than hands.
We have stabilized the upland, checked out the hoist, and have raised two of the aluminum launch ramps. We have salvaged much of our Versadock and will put back together most of our floating docks.
The main ramp is going to take some time to replace, but we will have limited launch capability on the smaller ramps. The seawall also needs repairs but the worst areas are cordoned off and should not be used.
We are working to patch the asphalt as it had a foot of salt water on it for over 24 hrs.
If you can keep your boat where it is for another week we will be able to accommodate your return the following weekend.
If you really need to bring your boat back immediately send us an email. We cannot accommodate all boats but if there is a case where your neighbor doesn’t want your keelboat on his lawn anymore let us know.
We will only be able to put boats on the rock/grassy area until the asphalt is done. This should happen soon but the wet weather is not helping.
The racks will be ready and when dinghies come back they will need to go on the racks whenever possible.
The fences will not be entirely there, so security is not assured besides night patrols and video camera. Do not bring back valuables or hang your outboard on the back of your boat.
Thanks for your understanding during this difficult time for everyone.
